Ford has announced that it will spend $11.1 billion on global electric vehicles and will build an all-electric performance SUV starting in 2020 at its Cuautitlan, Mexico, plant. Flat Rock will build vehicles from the company’s next-generation battery electric flexible architecture.

What this means is that the upcoming Mustang Hybrid will be built in Michigan while the Mustang-inspired EV will be built in Mexico. More details are inside

Grabber Lime Revealed for 2020 Mustang Lineup, Including GT350 and GT500

Ford just revealed a new heritage-inspired Grabber Lime for the 2020 Mustang lineup — including the GT350 and GT500 models.

Grabber Lime may look straight out of St. Patrick’s Day but this high-impact green is actually inspired by a vintage Mustang color from the 1970s.

“It’s lime green on steroids,” said Barb Whalen, Ford color and materials manager. “This color traces back to a Mustang heritage color while bringing it forward with more modern, dynamic pigments and bold new energy.”

Grabber Lime is one of two new feature colors available across the Mustang lineup for 2020, with Twister Orange being the other. In addition, new Iconic Silver and Red Hot Metallic will freshen up the new Mustang palette for the new model year.

Check out the first photos of the Grabber Lime 2020 Shelby GT500 Mustang inside.

2020 GT500 Mustang Aerodynamics & Cooling Explained, Top Speed Governed to 180MPH

Ford today released fresh details on the 2020 Shelby GT500 Mustang, including that the vehicle will be governed to 180MPH top speed.

The 180 mph governed top speed may be disappointing to some but we have no doubt that the zero-to-60 and quarter-mile claims made by Ford — under 3.0 seconds to 60 mph and sub 11.0-second quarter mile, will make the vast majority of buyers happy.

This comes as Ford released new images and spec sheets detailing the reasons why the 2020 GT500 will be the most aerodynamic and thermally efficient Mustang ever built.

The images show how the GT500 uses air in several ways to cool and feed the most powerful Mustang ever, including utilization of the engine air intake, six-square-foot hood vent, air conditioning condenser, low-temp supercharger radiator, main high-temp radiator, auxiliary high-temp radiator, engine oil and transmission coolers, front brake duct, front splitter and splitter wicker.

This all adds up to the vehicle being designed to extract more than 230 kilowatts of powertrain heat plus another 100 kilowatts of brake heat under extreme driving conditions, all while generating up to 500 pounds of rear downforce at 180 mph.

Check inside to learn all about the aerodynamics and cooling features of the 2020 Shelby GT500 Mustang.
